I agree that if one knows that something would be a mistake then he should avoid making the mistake. Mistakes are sometime very expensive.

I believe what you DO or DON’T should always be based on wisdom and never on cultural or parental or religious rules in your mind and wisdom results from such experiences.

Cultural, parental and religious rules (Not all but most) are like coding guidelines in software. As per your suggestion one should first commit blunders, then learn from it. Is it necessary to burn our fingers before you can tell others that fire really burns? On the same lines a heart surgeon must first eat enuf junk to get his arteries clogged and only then he will be able to cure his patients effectively?

I agree blind faith is wrong, but I dont see any blindness is following rules like guthka and tobacco are harmful and must be avoided. Remember people who take the spiritual path has much more responsibility than common people like us. U make take up a habit and then leave it, because of ur strong will but others who may follow you may find it difficult.

My 2 cents.

No, it was no practical experience from Gurudeva. Read the article on repercussion of any kind of drug spirituality
It was my decision and I never repent for it. Now I understand very well those who have this habit and when I advise them to leave it, it has a higher impact because I have done it myself.

I just wonder how could you get into the habit of taking Gutka?????? Its good to know that you got rid of it, however just wondering you have left everything that we thought would been better for you thinking that you are taking the RIGHT GOOD decision and is being guided by your Gurudeva then how did this happen to you? Was that a practical experience from Gurudeva? Taste the bad to know the badness of it? Or your mind got weak at point of time?
