Software professional vs Construction laborer

My previous stint as software professional and my current job as construction laborer shows me the width of problems that exists in India.

Why width of the problem?
Its my observation that:

  • Lesser the gap between rich and poor, lesser the gap in wages of different skills, better and more harmonic is the society
  • Wider the gap between rich and poor, wider the gap in wages for different skills, more strain it exherts in the society as a whole

Software professionals known as high skilled and laborer are known as unskilled

In India, the high skilled ones draw easily on an average Rs.40 to 50K (i.e. US$1 – 1.2K) per month or perhaps even more
Whereas the unskilled ones draw Rs.80 – 130 (i.e. US$2 – 3) per day

The high skilled have regular paid leaves
For unskilled even if work stops because of external factors like rain, you get as much as you worked

The high skilled work in air condition
The unskilled work in all condition

The high skilled have the first aid medicines available which ends up in getting expired
For unskilled, the cuts and bleeds expire live as it graves under mud and cement

There are so many other things that makes high skilled one more fun and attractive
Where as unskilled is pure hard work and laborious – its no entertainment

Then why one would leave his software professional career to take up jobs like construction laborer???

To understand it, it could be very simple for few
At the same time it is perplexing to some, interesting but expensive to some and blunder to most…

Of course to me and also to my fellow desciples and some friends who are into spirituality it is simple
I never doubted my decision even for a second – till date

Some other day I would like to elaborate my point of view. Its past 1:00am now. I need some good sleep before I go for work in morning.

    Dear Gopu,
Yes. I feel and understand what you mean. Many a times i ponder what can i as an individual do about creating a harmony between the rich IT world and poor but very useful world..But many a times i find no answer. Finding a person who is having a TRUE need of money and resources is very difficult.

Construction workers CREATE homes for IT workers to sleep well. Construction workers CREATE roads for IT workers and other “TOP”-paid jobs to drive on safely and more importantly comfortable.
Construction workers are the ones that actually CREATE whatever is needed to make this world go round. Amazingly, truly experienced and skilled construction workers can do all their jobs without computer and without software – just using the brain and creative power given by God.

While IT professionals play with bits and bites, to create software allowing to play with virtual ideas that most of the time are ideas too expensive to be affordable by ALL population, ideas in disharmony with God because made without God given human brain – made by computers.

The construction workers – just as farmers and many other real life jobs keep us ALIVE. IT jobs and ALL office jobs are just accessories to keep week ones alive until they grow strong enough to do REAL work in real world jobs – just like you started now.
Real lovers, really spiritual people all do real work!

Enjoy your experiences to grow and to learn being useful to your country and this world.
    God bless

    folks, everything said and done, agreed and not disputed. What about the ecosystem which god made us all part of? The law of mutual dependency is fundamental to our ecosystem. And if we were to go by human palms, not all the fingers are equal;

The derived fact is simple and plain. There are rich, there are poor, there is weak, there is mighty … ultimately there is almightly who is fair in being unfair! Rich is dependent on poor and converse is holds good. At the same time in space and dimension, rich and poor is subjective and money is not factor.

We are in a system where we can learn the best
We can learn the best when the system reflects our own problem
System always reflects the problem of citizen living in it
As you evolve and deserve a better system i.e. have the character and ability to sustain a “higher” system instead of threatening it, you become part of that system

  6. Indresh Says:

One becomes part of a system only when he/she accept to be so rather than based on the merit (evolve, deserve, …). Point is to say that (as I put in my earlier reply) there is a certain level of mutual dependecy between US and SYSTEM for neither of them can exist when the other is not present. As a result one ends up being part of system whether he/she likes or not.
It is not fair to demand system to reflect upon human deeds. System is created by people who in turn (could) create problems (or happiness). It is correct to use system and people interchangeably. So the point of threatening system does not hold good for it would mean that we are threatening ourselves (IMHO no one would dare to do so). What does that mean? That we reflect (or the reflection of) our own problems? Certainly not.
We (or system) can only create problems. It is the consequence or the ramifications that will assist us and system to reflect upon.
For e.g., if you have a wound on your fore-head and look into the mirror, what did happen just now? reflection or creation?
The law of balance says that “A successful eco system is the one which has a proportional distribution of thinking hats and working ants”. Any deviation in the ratio will create chaos.
